The legend of Bill Sneed’s lost florida treasure is a well-known one.
Bill lived in Lakeland, Florida, and like many of us was a devout
treasure hunter. In the 1940’s, Sneed claimed to find a large cache
of gold ($600,000 at the time!) bullion near the mouth of a local
river, the Suwannee. Bill Sneed’s Florida treasure is still
undiscovered to this day.

Many veteran Florida treasure hunters are quite familiar with Sneed’
s claim and his subsequent lifestyle. Bill was a miserly, private
man…who didn’t live the lavish lifestyle one might expect in the face
of such sudden fortune. For nine years following his great treasure
find, Sneed actually managed a motel in Lakeland, the Wilmary
Motel to be more precise. The building is now a rather lower-income
apartment complex, and the treasure is believed to be buried near it.

Sneed never ventured far from the motel, according to
acquaintances, and was seen on more than one evening venturing
down a path from the motel, where most experts believe the treasure
is still hidden. Bill would describe these evening walks as his “relax
time” but those who knew him well were all but certain old miser Bill
was checking on his stash. To this day, this lost florida treasure with
a current value of more than $5 million is undiscovered. Are you it’s
next owner?
